This 1968 Pontiac GTO belonged to a friend of mine. I did this
project in 1989. The first two pics show how the car looked when
I picked it up. First thing I did was to strip off the paint.
Started this long project with the hood.
Then worked my way to the back of the car. I etch primed the panels
as I finished the bodywork on them
After I finishing all the bodywork and etch priming.
I blocked the car and sprayed filler primer on the car.
The filler primer was sprayed and blocksanded
many times.
Before blocksannding the car for the last time
all of the jambs were sprayed.

All sanding is done. Car is clean and ready for
the paint booth.
Here is the car fresh out of the paint booth.
I painted the GTO with a Dupont Acrylic Enamel Gloss Black with blue
pearl mixed in. The car came out looking great.
The paint job on this car was a experiment with
pearl paints. The black paint is just the base coat. The top pic in
ths group is taken looking into the trunk lid. Nice deep shine.

More pics of the black paint job.

I color sanded the black paint job. getting it
ready for some clear.

together. |

Car is finished and ready for cruising.
The pearl effect looks real nice. My friend was
very happy with the car.
